The paradise island of Nusa Penida

A fantastic day awaits you here with underground temples in limestone caves and local life blended with untamed, dramatic scenery and the secluded Atuh beach with its unique and stunning location.

You will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the harbour before departing on the refreshing, 60-minute speed boat ride to the paradise island of Nusa Penida. The first stop on the island is the underground Hindu Goa Giri Putri Temple, which you access one at a time through a narrow slit in the limestone rocks. A lot of Balinese people come here to go through the entire cleansing ritual at the 20 stations in the impressively large cave, which can accommodate 5,000 people. The tour continues to the village of Semaya, where the cultivation of seaweed remains an important source of income for the village. A local host tells you about the process, and if you wish, you can have a go at drying and possibly planting the seaweed, depending on the tide.

Then you can enjoy the scenic drive through stunning landscapes to the small village of Tangland, where you meet a male batik weaver. Traditionally, batik weaving is done by women, but this man has taken up the legacy of his ancestors. Enjoy a local snack while listening to his fascinating story and learn about the fabrication of batik from weaving and dyeing until the fine piece of craftsmanship is complete.

Relaxation then awaits on the beautiful Atuh beach with its unique, secluded location in a small bay. The beautiful white sandy beach is surrounded by steep, high cliffs with lush greenery in stark contrast to the turquoise-blue sea. Just off the beach, you can enjoy the sight of the elephant-shaped rock jutting out of the water. The walk to the beach takes you down steep stone steps. Once on the beach, you have time to enjoy a light lunch at one of the small eateries, sunbathe, swim, snorkel and take lots of photos. After a wonderful day, you head back to your hotel, first by speedboat and then by car.

Lunch is included.

Duration: approx. 10 hours
