Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge

Drake Bay

Aguila de Osa is spectacularly set on a jungle-clad hillside overlooking Drake Bay. With dense rainforest at its back and the Pacific horizon ahead, you can look forward to the sounds of the jungle and beautiful sunsets.

The lodge has just 13 rooms, creating a cosy, intimate atmosphere where you’ll quickly feel at home. Rooms are simply furnished and built using natural materials such as wood and stone, blending beautifully with the surroundings. All rooms have a private bathroom, a fridge, a ceiling fan, and large windows with insect screens, allowing the tropical breeze to circulate naturally through the room. There is deliberately no air conditioning in the rooms, as the hotel prioritises sustainability and natural ventilation, and the high ceilings combined with the breeze keep the rooms comfortable and airy.
From the veranda, you can relax and enjoy views of the bay and the jungle.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Great Room, is a natural social hub. Here, dishes are prepared with local produce – much of it from the hotel’s own kitchen garden, La Perla. The kitchen puts flavour, quality, and sustainability before mass production, and meals are served in an open dining room with views of the ocean and the rainforest.

When you stay at Aguila de Osa, you’re booked with full board, which includes all meals and some drinks.

The lodge offers a wide range of guided excursions both on land and at sea. At sea, you can snorkel or dive around Caño Island, go kayaking, explore the mangroves by boat, or try your hand at sport fishing. On land, you can hike in Corcovado National Park, go birdwatching, go horse riding along the beach, or join exciting night-time jungle walks. All activities are led by skilled local guides.

From the hotel, a small path follows the water and leads you into Drake Bay itself. The walk takes about 10–15 minutes and winds through lush surroundings, offering a scenic and authentic feel for the area – the coastline, the village, and the relaxed local way of life.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Aguila de Osa’s philosophy. The hotel works actively on waste reduction, recycling, natural composting, water conservation, and sourcing produce locally. It collaborates closely with the Corcovado Foundation, which is engaged in conservation, sea turtle projects, and environmental education in the local community.

A stay here means you’ll not only enjoy remarkable encounters with nature, but you’ll also be contributing to the conservation of one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
