National car categories in Costa Rica

In Costa Rica, we work with National as our car rental partner. As standard, your included car hire will be a Suzuki Vitara or similar midsize SUV, which is ideal for 2–3 people. It’s possible to upgrade to other car models if you’re travelling as a larger group or simply prefer a bigger vehicle.

Please note:

• The minimum age for car rental in Costa Rica is 21 years old. 
• Drivers aged 21–25 must pay an additional insurance supplement of approximately USD 14 per person per day.
