Our Serengeti safaris:

Why should you choose a safari in Serengeti?

A Serengeti safari holiday is for those looking to be blown away by experiences. By the endless grassy plains as far as the eye can see. By the sky, which is bigger than you thought possible. And by the wildlife. More animals than you ever imagined seeing at once.

If you dream of going on safari in Tanzania and experiencing the incredible wildlife and fascinating nature, you can’t go far wrong with a visit to the Serengeti. Here, you’ll find a true paradise for nature lovers and adventurous souls.

What can you experience on safari in the Serengeti?

Serengeti National Park offers an abundance of spectacular experiences, including the opportunity to experience amazing natural phenomena and get right up close to African nature and wildlife.

The Great Migration – one of nature’s natural wonders

The Great Migration or “the great wildebeest migration” is the world’s largest migration of animals on land and one of the world’s most incredible natural phenomena.

It is the annual migration of some 2 million wildebeests, zebras and gazelles, which migrate continuously between the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya in search of water and grass. A stretch of almost 3,000 km!

Get even closer to the Big Five

The African wildlife is out of this world, and it’s amazing to see giraffes, hippos, gazelles, zebras and many, many more in their natural surroundings.

For many people, coming face-to-face with the iconic Big Five (the lion, the leopard, the elephant, the rhinoceros and the buffalo) is a major item on the bucket list, and the Serengeti is one of the places where the chance of experiencing the five animals is greatest.

Overwhelming nature

The encounter with the fantastic nature of the Serengeti overwhelms most people.

So, while you’re on the lookout for the unrivalled wildlife, you can enjoy the surrounding nature, where the open grasslands are adorned with scattered acacia trees, hills are covered in dense vegetation, waterholes attract the animals of the park and the Kopjers, the characteristic rock formations, rise up from the savannah like something from “The Lion King”, so we almost expect Rafiki to appear and to show off baby Simba with outstretched arms.

Overnight stay in wild camps

And when night falls, you can really put the finishing touch to your day when you spend the night in one of the fantastic wild camps.

A wild camp is a camp located in the heart of the wilderness. And as primitive as it sounds, the tents are actually quite luxurious with proper beds, bathrooms with toilets and electricity.

Snuggle down under the duvet to the sound of the wild animals that are close by – perhaps even right outside your tent!

Combine with Zanzibar

If you dream of rounding off your safari holiday with a beach holiday, the Tanzania/Zanzibar combination is the obvious choice.

The island of Zanzibar is located just under 50 km from the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, where you’ll find kilometres of white sandy beaches, giving you every opportunity to laze at the water’s edge, lie by the pool or head off on an excursion, e.g. to Zanzibar’s only national park, Jozani, where you can see the rare red colobus monkeys.

How much does a safari in Serengeti cost?

The price of a safari in Serengeti National Park varies depending on the length of the tour, the itinerary and the date of travel. All our tours include flights, transfers, safaris, national park fees and more.

You can, however, generally reckon on it being cheaper to travel outside peak season, and it’s typically cheapest to go on safari in Serengeti in April and May, when it’s rainy season in Tanzania.

You can check our minimum prices on each individual safari tour.

When is the best time to go on a Serengeti safari holiday?

Tanzania and Serengeti offer unique experiences all year round, and each season offers something different.

Many of our guests consider the dry seasons (January–February and June–October) to be the best time to go on safari in Serengeti. During the dry season – especially towards the end – the animals gather around the waterholes to drink water.

Some of the advantages of travelling outside the dry seasons are that it is usually cheaper, and there are fewer other visitors. Any rain usually falls as torrential showers, which only last a few hours before clearing up again.

What should I wear when going on safari?

There are not generally any rules about what clothes you should wear when you go on safari. We recommend that you wear light/neutral clothes. Avoid stark, bright colours, white, dark blue and black – dark blue and black in particular attract tsetse flies.

Is it safe to go on safari in Serengeti?

Yes, it’s safe to go on safari in Serengeti.

The animals in Serengeti National Park are used to there being cars around, and they don’t view them as a threat. Our guides also have a deep understanding of animal behaviour and the national park’s rules. When staying in unfenced areas, you will be accompanied by a Masai after dark.

Is a visit to the Serengeti worth the money?
