Half-day tour in local and flavourful Tokyo

Discover one of the city’s most beloved neighbourhoods, Kichijoji, on this charming afternoon tour. Enjoy peaceful strolls through atmospheric surroundings and try popular Japanese snacks and sweet delicacies. 

You’ll meet your guide at your hotel before setting off for Kichijoji, a delightful district west of central Tokyo, known for its laid-back vibe and vibrant shopping scene. Your walking tour will begin in Inokashira Park, a green oasis in the middle of the city, where your guide will share stories about the park’s importance to locals, who flock here to enjoy the shade in summer and the cherry blossoms in spring. 

At the heart of the park, you’ll visit Benten Shrine, dedicated to the goddess Benzaiten. The shrine is one of 119 scenes immortalised by the artist Uoya Eikichi in his famous ukiyo-e series, One Hundred Views of Edo. Legend has it that those who wash their money here will see their wealth returned many times over. 

From here, you’ll continue along the charming Nakamichi-dori street, lined with small, delightful shops and cafés. Your guide will point out the best spots to pop into before you arrive at the whimsical Petite Mura, a fairytale-like complex inspired by European villages. Here, you can take a well-deserved break while your guide serves you a refreshing drink in the most atmospheric surroundings.  

In the covered shopping street Sunroad Shotengai, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experience Kichijoji’s local food culture. Your guide will take you to some of the area’s most popular stalls, where you can sample local favourites such as the flavourful menchi katsu, crispy takoyaki filled with octopus, and finally the sweet taiyaki.  

The tour will end at Sunroad Shotengai, where your guide will be happy to offer suggestions for restaurants or ideas for further exploration on your own.
