Half-day tour of classical and modern Tokyo

Join us for a sensory and insightful morning tour, where you’ll experience some of Tokyo’s most iconic neighbourhoods and landmarks, from historic temples to the city’s dynamic modern life.

You’ll meet your guide at your hotel and head for Asakusa, a district brimming with atmosphere. Your guide will explain how the area once served as Tokyo’s entertainment hub during the Edo period and share stories about the customs that still shape daily life here. You’ll also learn how the city’s oldest temple, Senso-ji, continues to serve as a spiritual haven for locals. Afterwards, you’ll stroll along the lively Nakamise-dori street, where the tempting aromas of street food mingle with the scent of incense drifting from the temples, and busy stalls offer everything from kimonos and fans to sweet rice cakes and filled pancakes.

The tour will then continue by public transport to Meiji Shrine, Tokyo’s most celebrated Shinto shrine. In the heart of the bustling metropolis, you’ll step into a peaceful oasis surrounded by more than a hundred thousand trees, planted in honour of the Emperor. Here, you’ll feel the tranquillity as your guide talks about Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, to whom the shrine is dedicated, and about the ancient rituals still practised here.

Your final stop will be Shibuya, where Tokyo’s modern energy truly comes alive. Here, neon billboards, trendy boutiques, and lively music cafés create a colourful backdrop that your guide brings to life through stories about the city’s vibrant youth culture. You’ll also experience the world-famous Shibuya Crossing and feel the city’s pulse, where every change of the lights feels like the heartbeat of the Japanese metropolis.

The tour will end at Shibuya Station, where your guide will be happy to offer recommendations for lunch or places to continue exploring on your own.
