Cookery class in Phuket

You’ve probably tasted Thai food in all its guises – as a takeaway or perhaps on previous visits to Thailand. It could also be that you are completely new to Thai cuisine, but never fear, regardless of your level of expertise, you have the opportunity today to learn (almost…) everything there is to know about Thai food from scratch!

The day begins in true Thai style at the local market, where you shop for today’s cookery class. A lot of people think that the visit to the market is mostly about LOOKING at the wares, but in fact it is just as much about SMELLING the wide array of ingredients. Assisted by the guide, you will find everything you need and strike a bargain before heading to the kitchen.

Many Thai dishes are based on a “curry paste”, so it goes without saying that you will learn to make one today. From scratch! The guide shows you how to grind the spices to get the most flavour out of them, and you learn exactly how much to fry the garlic so that it doesn’t taste burnt. The paste is then transformed into the most delicious meal, which you enjoy for lunch. Naturally, everything is carefully written down, and you are given the recipe, so you can make the perfect curry paste for your guests back home when they come to see your holiday photos.
