Chimpanzee tracking
Humankind’s closest living relative is the chimpanzee – only a small percentage of our genes differ from theirs. They are among the most intelligent primates, using “tools” in their daily lives and crafting nests from branches and leaves that they sleep in each night.
Encountering these close relatives is simply an utterly unique experience, and today you can embark on a trek amongst chimpanzees.
The journey to the chimpanzees is taken with an experienced guide who knows the group you’ll visit intimately. Chimpanzees are naturally shy and wary of humans, due to their nature and their experiences, making it a slow process to acclimatise them to people. However, your guide is an expert.
While the main attraction is the chimpanzees, remember to also enjoy the journey to reach them.
The landscape is exceptionally captivating, home to a variety of mammals and birds. You’ll spend a maximum of one hour with the chimpanzees before heading back out of the forest.
