Crystalbrook Flynn

Cairns

The Crystalbrook chain has gone all out to prove that luxury can be responsible. They make every effort to reduce their use of plastic, for example. If you stay at one of their hotels, you should therefore also know that even though it’s 5-star, the key fobs for the rooms are made of wood, and you won’t find a large selection of small plastic bottles of soap and shampoo in the bathrooms. Instead, there are a couple of refillable containers. You won’t find a bottle of store-bought water in the fridge either, but you’ll be given an empty glass bottle that you can fill with water yourself instead – and use again.

However, the hotel still oozes five stars. The décor, heavily inspired by Queensland’s historic, old buildings with high ceilings and large open spaces, also offers modern features, such as pools made of glass. And the location is not to be sniffed at either, right in the middle of the Esplanade with shops and restaurants right on the doorstep.

There are several restaurants, often with live music at one of them at the weekend.

The 311 rooms are located in two buildings right next to each other. Think bright colours meet Nordic design. The rooms are large and well appointed with a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, smart TV, Chromecast and, of course, free Wi-Fi.

Please note that the hotel does not accept cash.
