HomeFull-day excursion to Southern Flinders Ranges

Full-day excursion to Southern Flinders Ranges

Red craggy rocks, winding canyons and deep valleys which are millions of years old, dried up riverbeds: that’s the Flinders Ranges.

The southern part of South Australia’s biggest mountain range, the Flinders Ranges, begins just over 200 km north of Adelaide and can be reached on a day trip from the city.

Mount Remarkable National Park offers good hiking trails, scenic viewpoints and great opportunities to see some of Australia’s truly unique wildlife. You’ll enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in the national park before the excursion with your private guide continues deeper into the Flinders Ranges. Enjoy the scenic views and the particularly beautiful play of colours that the landscapes here offer.

You’ll visit the cosy little town of Melrose, which is the oldest in the area – founded in 1853. Many of the buildings in the town are listed and are classic examples of Australian “outback” buildings.

On the way back to Adelaide, you’ll pass through the Clare Valley wine region, which, with its lush vineyards, is a stark contrast to the first part of the day in the arid Flinders Ranges.

Lunch is included in today’s excursion.
