Full-day tour to Phillip Island with Penguin Parade
The Penguin Parade on Phillip Island is an absolute highlight and a popular day trip from Melbourne.
In the morning, you’ll leave Melbourne and make for one of the city’s most colourful sights – the iconic Brighton Beach bathing boxes. These historic, brightly painted beach huts frame the shoreline beautifully and are perfect for a quick beach break and some great photos.
The journey then continues through Melbourne’s coastal suburbs to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park. Here, you can get up close to kangaroos, koalas, emus, and wallabies, and learn more about Australia’s unique wildlife – including some of the lesser-known species.
In the late afternoon, you’ll continue to Phillip Island, stopping at Point Grant and The Nobbies. Here, you can take in sweeping views over Western Port Bay, Bass Strait, and Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest fur seal colony.
As darkness falls, the tour’s undisputed highlight awaits – the Penguin Parade!
Every evening, just after sunset, the world’s smallest penguins return from the sea after a day’s fishing. It’s a magical experience watching the little penguins waddle up the beach towards their burrows. Together with your guide, you’ll watch them from a viewing platform that offers an excellent vantage point.
After the Penguin Parade, there’s time to explore the visitor centre before the tour heads back towards Melbourne. You’ll arrive back in Melbourne late in the evening.
