Join us for an exciting evening excursion, where you’ll have the chance to witness the magnificent sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs in the sand. If you’re particularly lucky, you may also see the newly hatched turtles digging their way out of the sand and making their first journey towards the ocean.
The tour takes place after sunset on protected beaches north of Playa Grande, offering you the unique opportunity to encounter both the olive ridley and green sea turtles in their natural habitat. The group is accompanied by an experienced guide, who provides fascinating insights into the turtles’ behaviour and the important conservation work being carried out in the area to protect them. Red light is used so as not to disturb the turtles, and the experience is conducted entirely on their terms.
The turtles’ nesting and hatching are natural phenomena, and there are no guarantees as to what you’ll witness – each evening is different. Please be aware that some waiting time may occur during the excursion. It’s precisely this unpredictability that makes the experience feel genuine and truly memorable.
