Local life, viewpoints and sunset on Lombok
The tour starts in the afternoon, when you’ll be picked up from your hotel. From here, you’ll be driven into the island’s hilly countryside to the village of Gunung Sari, before the road turns towards Sidemen Afternoon Market. The market only opens in the afternoon, as goods are brought here from the mountain villages throughout the day. You’ll stop to soak up the local market life and see what the villagers are buying and selling.
From the market, you will continue up the winding mountain roads. Along the way, you’ll stop at a local home for insights into everyday life in the area. Families here make their living from agriculture, growing, among other things, coffee, coconuts, jackfruit, sago, and palm sugar. You’ll have the chance to see how traditional palm sugar is made, from extracting the sap and boiling it to then moulding and cooling.
The tour will then continue towards Baun Pusuk Pass, the highest point on the mountain stretch between Gunung Sari and Pemenang. Here, the landscape opens out with views across deep valleys, tropical forests, and small villages scattered among the trees. A photo stop is almost inevitable, as the views from here are breathtakingly beautiful.
From here, you’ll continue down towards the village of Bentek and follow the straight road on to Pemenang. Along the way, you can stop at especially scenic viewpoints if you wish.
Your final stop of the day is Malimbu Hill, one of Lombok’s best-known viewpoints. From here, you can enjoy the sunset over the sea with views of Bali, Gunung Agung, and the small Gili islands lined up offshore. A beautiful spot to round off the tour.
