Nestled in the northern reaches of the lush Kinabatangan River rainforest, Abai Jungle Lodge is a tranquil, secluded haven with the wild landscapes of Borneo quite literally on your doorstep.

The only way to reach this retreat is by boat, which, combined with its verdant surroundings, sets the stage for a truly nature-focused stay at Abai Jungle Lodge—where the rainforest and its abundant wildlife truly steal the show.

The lodge’s 30 bungalows are all built on stilts and linked by an elevated boardwalk system, blending seamlessly into the breathtaking natural setting. Each bungalow is equipped with a ceiling fan and a private bathroom featuring a shower, hot water, and eco-friendly toiletries. From your own private veranda, immerse yourself in the sounds of the rainforest as you watch out for langurs, which often wander by.

Behind the lodge, you can explore the rainforest via a network of walkways, or take in panoramic views from the lodge’s birdwatching tower—where, with a bit of luck, you might spot even more of Borneo’s unique animal life.

The heart of the lodge is the open-air dining and lounge terrace overlooking the river, where you can savour every meal beneath the open sky. Meals are served buffet-style, offering a variety of local dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Throughout the day, complimentary coffee, tea, and drinking water are available in the communal area for you to help yourself.
