Nanga Sumpa Lodge
For travellers looking for an intimate and authentic experience of Borneo’s rainforest, Nanga Sumpa Lodge offers an unforgettable stay deep in the untouched rainforest of Sarawak. In collaboration with one of Borneo’s indigenous tribes, the Iban Tribe, you will get a unique insight into their traditional daily life and culture.
The lodge is the perfect base for exploring the rainforest, with its idyllic setting by the Batang Ai River. Accommodation consists of simple rooms in traditional longhouses, built with a respect for nature and in accordance with ancient customs. Here, you’ll embrace a simple lifestyle with basic amenities like electricity and a ceiling fan, while being rewarded with the purest form of nature’s beauty.
Meals are served on the large wooden veranda of the lodge, and they consist of locally inspired dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, with their flavours being enhanced by the magical surroundings. While enjoying the food, you can exchange stories and experiences with other travellers and look forward to an evening in which you can spend time with the Iban families and learn about their culture and traditions. When it is bedtime in the evening, you can fall asleep safely to the soothing sounds of the night from the rainforest and the quiet rippling of the river.
