Rainforest Retreat

Rainforest Retreat boasts a superb location right in the heart of the small town of Franz Josef, surrounded by lush rainforest and within easy reach of the area’s main attractions. You’ll be staying in the centre of town, within walking distance of cafés, restaurants and the West Coast Wildlife Centre.

Rainforest Retreat offers a range of accommodation options – from private rooms and apartments to cosy cabins and tree huts tucked away among the rainforest. There’s also a campervan area with shared toilet and shower facilities.

We primarily use the charming Tree Huts and Gecko Huts, each featuring a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, TV, heating and a kitchenette with fridge and microwave. Outside, there’s a small terrace where you can relax and take in the beautiful natural surroundings.

In some cases, alternative room types may be used, as Franz Josef is a small yet very popular destination with limited capacity. No matter which option you stay in, you’ll be surrounded by stunning nature and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

The accommodation has its own restaurant and bar, Monsoon Restaurant & Bar, serving both breakfast and dinner. It’s a popular spot, so it’s recommended to book a table well in advance.

There are also shared lounge areas, laundry facilities and free parking available for guests.
