Akaroa with nature cruise
Experience the charming coastal town of Akaroa on this full-day tour from Christchurch, where French colonial history meets breathtaking nature and unique wildlife.
Akaroa is located on Banks Peninsula and is known for its French heritage, picturesque surroundings, and rich marine life. The town is the only place in New Zealand where French settlers established a colony, reflected in the town’s architecture and atmosphere.
The tour starts with a scenic drive from Christchurch through the Canterbury Plains and along the coast to Akaroa. Along the way, you will pass stunning landscapes and get a chance to enjoy views over Akaroa Harbour from the Hilltop viewpoint.
Upon arrival in Akaroa, lunch is included at a local café.
After lunch, you’ll embark on a two-hour nature cruise from Akaroa Harbour. Here, you will have the opportunity to spot Hector’s dolphins – the world’s smallest and rarest dolphin species – as well as seals and penguins in their natural habitat.
On the return journey to Christchurch, there will be a stop at Barry’s Bay Cheese Factory, where you can sample award-winning New Zealand cheese.
