AVIS car categories in New Zealand

We use AVIS as our car rental partner in New Zealand. As standard, your included car hire comes with a category G – ‘Compact SUV’, such as a Hyundai Kona or similar, which is ideal for 1–3 people with luggage. If you’re travelling with a larger group, or simply prefer a bigger vehicle, upgrades to other categories and models are available.

Please note:
Some of our tours include car hire on both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. The following categories are permitted to travel on the ferry: C, G, P, and K. For all other categories, vehicles must be returned at the ferry terminal on one side, and a new hire car can be collected on the other side.
