Excursion to Milford Sound including fjord cruise

Join us for an unforgettable excursion to the spectacular Milford Sound (Piopiotahi). Here, you can look forward to experiencing nature at its very best. The journey itself is as remarkable as the cruise on the fjord – both promise scenery that will leave you speechless!

Your day begins bright and early as you set off from Queenstown, travelling along the shores of the beautiful Lake Wakatipu and on through the dramatic landscapes of Devil’s Staircase. The route continues via the tranquil town of Te Anau and further into Fiordland National Park, where the scenery gradually transforms. Here, you’ll encounter wide glacial valleys such as Eglinton Valley, the glassy surface of Mirror Lakes, deep river valleys like the Hollyford River, and dense forests. There are plenty of chances along the way to pause for photos and take in the many stunning vistas.
The journey leads on through the Darran Mountains and reaches its peak at the impressive Homer Tunnel. Emerging on the other side, you’re greeted by a spectacularly open valley – and on rainy days, waterfalls tumble dramatically down the sheer rock faces on either side, creating an unforgettable sight.

Upon arrival at Milford Sound, you’ll embark on an enchanting two-hour cruise along the fjord.

You’ll find yourself surrounded by breathtaking scenery with sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls and lush rainforest. If you’re lucky, you may even spot dolphins and New Zealand fur seals basking on the rocks. A passionate nature guide will be on board, sharing their in-depth knowledge of the area along the way.
You’ll receive a packed lunch (included), as well as coffee and tea to enjoy in these spectacular surroundings. There’s the option to sit both inside and out on the boat, so remember to bring clothing suitable for all weather conditions.

On your return journey to Queenstown, there will be several photo stops en route and your guide will ensure you experience all the highlights, including fascinating stories and hidden gems.
