Horseback riding in Monument Valley

Experience the Wild West from horseback on a guided tour through the majestic landscapes of Monument Valley, where striking rock formations and red sandstone mesas dominate the horizon. You might recognise the area as the backdrop for numerous classic Western films – a place that still radiates the true spirit of the cowboy era. 
Your tour is led by an experienced local Navajo cowboy, who shares fascinating stories about the area’s nature, culture, and history. The horses are calm and well-trained, so whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, you can sit back comfortably in the saddle and simply enjoy the adventure.

Along the way, you’ll make three stops. The first is at the “West and East Mitten Buttes” – two magnificent rock formations that resemble giant mittens when viewed from the south. Next, you’ll pass “Merrick Butte” – one of Monument Valley’s most photographed landmarks, and with good reason. The final stop is at “Sentinel Mesa”, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the valley’s many formations before you peacefully return to the stables.

You can book the tour at one of the following times, depending on what best fits your travel itinerary: 

• Morning tour at 08:00: Experience the first rays of sunlight striking the red cliffs, casting long shadows across the valley – a magical sight where the silence is broken only by the gentle steps of the horses.
• Afternoon tour at 17:00: Set off in the warm evening light, as the colours shift by the minute and Monument Valley reveals its most atmospheric side.

Remember to bring: Water, sun cream, and comfortable clothing
