Lak Tented Camp sits peacefully on the shores of Lak Lake, surrounded by lush green mountains and rice fields, around 50 km south of Buon Ma Thuot. You’ll arrive here by boat, and even during the journey, you’ll begin to sense what makes this place special: the tranquillity, the nature, and the feeling of being truly far away from it all.
The camp has 23 rooms spread across 4.8 hectares. Here, you shouldn’t expect five-star luxury, but rather million-star moments under the open sky. Everything has been built with sustainability and minimal impact on the landscape in mind, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature without interruption. Power is generated by solar energy, the lake brings coolness during the warmth of the day, and at night, it’s the lizards and geckos that set the mood. Lak Tented Camp is full of delightful little surprises.
The camp is set in lush surroundings, and your stay will typically be in one of the camp’s spacious lake-view tents. The tents are built on stilts and designed in a simple yet thoughtful style. Each tent offers 32 m² including a private veranda and features either a double bed or two single beds that can be joined together if needed. You’ll find a mosquito net, air conditioning and a fan, bottled spring water, tea and coffee, as well as practical amenities such as a torch, flip-flops, umbrella, and hairdryer. Outside each tent, you have your own bathroom with a shower and private toilet. On the veranda, a handcrafted table and chairs invite you to enjoy peaceful mornings overlooking the lake and tranquil evenings at dusk.
Y LAK Restaurant is an integral part of the experience at Lak Tented Camp. It’s housed in a traditional M’nong wooden longhouse that has been carefully restored. Here, you can choose to dine in the spacious restaurant or out on one of the two terraces overlooking the lake. The restaurant serves fresh, wholesome dishes prepared using local produce and ingredients from the camp’s own gardens — including coffee, cocoa, fruit, and vegetables. The menu is simple and inspired by the region’s culinary traditions. You won’t find a long list of international dishes, but what’s served has been thoughtfully selected and prepared with great care.
Lak Tented Camp was created in close collaboration with the local community and is run by members of the M’nong minority from nearby villages. They are warm, welcoming, and curious people whose kindness often becomes one of the lasting memories guests take home with them. The service may not be perfectly polished, but there is a strong willingness to learn and grow. You’ll be met with genuine interest, and if you offer a few tips in English, they’ll happily share a few M’nong words in return.
At Lak Tented Camp, you can look forward to a stay that allows you to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.
