Full-day tour to Ninh Binh with Hoa Lu and the Trang An caves (UNESCO)

Join us for an unforgettable day in Ninh Binh, where history comes alive in Vietnam’s ancient capital, Hoa Lu, and where you’ll glide through the spectacular Trang An caves by boat.

Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. From there, you’ll travel around 100 km south to reach Hoa Lu.

Hoa Lu served as Vietnam’s capital in the 10th and 11th centuries during the Dinh and Le dynasties. Today, the area stands as a fascinating testament to the country’s early kingdoms. You can visit beautifully preserved temples and gates built to honour former emperors. The structures are both impressive and atmospheric, featuring intricate carvings and traditional roof designs.

Surrounded by lush landscapes and limestone mountains, the setting combines history and nature in a way that makes it easy to picture how this area once formed the heart of the nation’s power.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll continue to nearby Trang An, which is listed on the UNESCO world heritage list and renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery with striking limestone formations and caves. The area is often referred to as “Ha Long Bay on land”.

You board a traditional sampan that glides gently along the river through a maze of caves and grottoes, including Lam Cave, Vang Cave, Dai Cave, and Thanh Truot Cave. Along the way, you’ll pass the temples of Cao Son, Suoi Tien, and Vu Lam, as well as Skull Island, which served as a filming location for the 2017 movie “Kong: Skull Island”.

The excursion ends at the pier after around two hours on the water, where your driver will be waiting to take you back to Hanoi, arriving in the late afternoon.
