Guided walk in Hoi An’s Old Town
This excursion offers a guided tour through the old town of Hoi An, uncovering the city’s hidden gems. You’ll experience the charm of the historic streets, inevitably enchanted by the old, yellow colonial French buildings lined side by side. The relaxed and cosy atmosphere of the district is immediately palpable.
Hoi An gained fame as an international trading port from the 16th to the 18th centuries, attracting Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, and Portuguese merchants. Today, the city is renowned for its delightful architecture, impressive silk production, and talented tailors.
Your guide will collect you from the hotel to embark on an intriguing half-day tour of Hoi An’s old town. You’ll discover former merchant houses, vibrant assembly halls, narrow alleys with traditional homes, and, of course, the iconic 18th-century Japanese bridge. Throughout the tour, you’ll veer off the beaten path to explore the more hidden and authentic parts of the city.
You’ll visit charming backstreets and small passageways, where you can discover the hidden temple, Con Voi, seldom frequented by tourists. Here, you’ll also have the chance to explore the city’s only two-story temple, Ba Mu Pagoda, and listen to captivating tales about the history of Hoi An, encompassing both its heyday and the challenges it has faced over the years.
The tour continues with a stop at the Hoi An Folklore Museum, offering deeper insights into the lives and traditions of the locals.
Finally, you’ll wander down a quaint alley to a cosy, tucked-away café where you can enjoy one of the city’s signature drinks, such as egg coffee or salted coffee, allowing the day’s experiences to fully sink in.
You will then be escorted back to your hotel.
