Hanoi – off the beaten track

This tour takes you to some of Hanoi’s hidden treasures and historical sites.

You’ll be picked up from the hotel by your guide and find your way to the starting point of the tour, which is by Hanoi’s largest lake, Ho Tay, also known as West Lake.

Admire the view of the freshwater lake as you stroll down Thanh Nien Street, and listen to your guide explaining how Hanoi has evolved over the years.

You continue down Hoang Hoa Tham, a busy street lined with flower shops and local traders. Enjoy the enchanting scents of the seasonal flowers and the sight of the elegant, little bonsai trees.

You arrive at Huu Tiep Lake, which is also known as B52 Lake after the B-52 bomber that was shot down and sank in the lake during the Vietnam War in 1972. The lake has great historical significance and has become a symbol of the country’s struggle for peace and independence. Lovely, old villas border the lake, and you’ll meet a local here who witnessed the horrors of the war and who tells you how the war affected the Vietnamese people.

The tour ends at the B52 Museum, which gives you a great insight into the Vietnam War with its impressive displays and collections of old military uniforms, weapons, wreckage, photographs and documents.

After a fascinating tour off the beaten track, the guide will accompany you back to the hotel.

We recommend that you book the excursion when booking the tour.
