Spice Island Hotel & Resort

Jambiani Beach

Whether you’re arriving in Zanzibar after a safari holiday or a trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro, you’ll be craving relaxation, a cosy atmosphere, a little indulgence, great food, a massage, and a dip in the sea. You’ll find all of this at Spice Island Hotel & Resort, set on Zanzibar’s south-east coast.

This family-owned hotel is designed in classic Zanzibari style with a modern twist, has its own beach, and feels as though it’s set amid a large botanical garden, home to more than 3,000 exotic plants, trees, and flowers.

The resort exudes a holiday vibe and pure relaxation. The communal areas are inviting, and the whole place has a special vibe that instantly puts you at ease and makes you feel truly welcome.

The restaurant and lounge area is furnished with comfy sofas and chairs and offers wonderful views of the beach and the sea.

If you can tear yourself away from the restaurant’s view, wander out along the resort’s long jetty to savour even more views and the sea breeze – and a good cup of coffee in the cosy lounge bar at the far end. At low tide, you can slip into the water from the jetty’s bathing steps, then enjoy a cold drink and a snack at the bar.

If you fancy getting active, take a dip in the pool or add a little excitement to your holiday by, for example, hiring a bike and cycling to the nearby village of Jambiani, or to Paje a little further north. A few kilometres from the hotel, there’s also a stalactite cave that’s well worth a visit.

Visit the small spa, perfect for easing your muscles after your Kilimanjaro trek or safari holiday.

In the hotel’s restaurant, you can tuck into delicious local fish and seafood, alongside varied dishes from African, Indian, and Arabic cuisines. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared. Breakfast includes a buffet, plus eggs and pancakes cooked to order and served straight from the kitchen, just the way you like them.

The hotel has 24 rooms set in bungalows of various sizes. There are two rooms in each bungalow, each with its own entrance and a cosy terrace. The rooms are spacious and all come with a private bathroom with a shower, air conditioning, a safety box, a small seating area, and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all public areas.

Please note that Spice Island Hotel & Resort will be closed from April 3rd to May 29th, 2026.
