Fancy a beach holiday at a sumptuous ‘All Inclusive’ resort combined with two days of safari in Kenya’s largest National Park? If that sounds appealing, then this is the tour for you!
The days along the Kenyan coast are entirely at your disposal. There are plenty of excursion options in the area if you’re up for it, but you might also just want to relax, read a good book, and enjoy the resort’s facilities.
After a couple of days on the coast, a safari trip to the beautiful Tsavo East National Park awaits. You’ll stay two nights in a lovely safari camp just outside the park and head out on game drives within the park. All meals and safari tours are included in the tour.
After a few days in Tsavo, the sea might call once more, and you will return to the coast for more days of relaxation.
A fantastic tour that combines both a glorious beach holiday and a safari experience.
Today, departure is from your chosen airport, and the journey takes you to Kenya in East Africa with connecting flight(s) along the way.
Upon arrival in Kenya, you’ll be greeted at the airport and driven to your hotel north of Mombasa. The drive takes a couple of hours, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the scenery.
You’ll be welcomed at the hotel with a cold drink, and the rest of the day is yours to relax after your journey.
The day is yours to unwind and enjoy the sun and sea.
If you’re keen to explore the Malindi area, the reception can always suggest great excursions.
There’s plenty of history and culture nearby.
The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed in Malindi in 1498, where he was received by the Sheikh of Malindi, who ruled the district at that time. However, even several hundred years prior, Malindi served as an export port for spices, gold, ivory – and slaves, and Malindi was, when Vasco da Gama arrived, a significant city on Kenya’s coast.
In the late 1500s, the Portuguese began constructing Fort Jesus further south – at Mombasa – and moved their Kenyan headquarters there. Mombasa is situated on an island, and the Portuguese likely believed an island city was easier to defend against enemies, of which there were plenty during those years.
South of Malindi, you’ll also find the Gede ruins, which are the remnants of a Swahili town supposedly abandoned around the same time the Portuguese moved from Malindi to Mombasa. Why Gede was abandoned remains a matter of speculation, but the truth is, everyone forgot about Gede for centuries! Today, the ruins are part of UNESCO’s world heritage list for cultural preservation.
Hell’s Kitchen north of Malindi is also worth a visit. A hike here showcases dramatic rock formations, apparently earning it the nickname of a smaller version of the Grand Canyon.
Hire a small catamaran to sail on the turquoise sea or book a snorkelling trip to Malindi Marine National Park. There’s no shortage of things to do, unless you’d just prefer to enjoy the resort and stroll along the shore.
It’s now time to immerse yourself in a taste of Kenya’s breathtaking scenery and incredible wildlife.
From Malindi, the journey will take you to Kenya’s largest national park, Tsavo East.
You’ll be staying for two nights at a lovely safari camp located near Sala Gate in the north-eastern part of the park. It’s only a couple of hours’ drive from Malindi, and you’ll arrive in a part of the park that sees fewer tourists than the south-western section.
After lunch at the camp, it’s time for your first game drive. You’ll return just before dinner, leaving you a moment to enjoy a drink as the sun sets.
Get ready for a truly classic safari day, complete with all the adventures that come with it.
What you’ll experience today is impossible to predict – and that’s exactly what makes a safari so extraordinary. Everything happens on nature’s own terms, and it’s wonderful to simply let go and take in everything you’re fortunate enough to see.
The park’s reddish elephants (coloured by the iron-rich soil) are, for many, an absolute highlight. Tsavo also boasts the largest elephant population in all of Kenya – estimated at around 15,000.
In addition to elephants, Tsavo East is also home to lions, buffaloes, leopards, hippos, and many more species. The park is also known for its remarkable birdlife, with more than 500 different species recorded.
After breakfast, the safari sets off, and the morning is spent on a game drive. Around midday, you’ll enjoy your packed lunch out in the wild before more game driving awaits. By late afternoon, you’ll return to camp, where there’s time for a refreshing dip in the pool before a delightful dinner is served
After a good night’s sleep, another morning of safari experiences awaits. Perhaps you’ve heard something rustling outside your tent during the night, or maybe there are tracks in the sand that your guide can help you interpret.
After breakfast, you’ll head out once again on a game drive. Remember, the more eyes scanning the landscape, the greater the chance of spotting something – big or small. Don’t forget to take in the stunning scenery too. A safari is not only about the animals; it’s about the beauty of nature as a whole.
Later in the morning, it’s time to head back to the coast – and who can resist a dip in the blue waves to wash off the safari dust?
The days are yours to enjoy the resort, go on excursions, take walks, read books, and generally just soak up the holiday atmosphere.
The hotel can assist if you’re keen to take an excursion to some of the attractions in the area.
There’s a transfer to the airport with plenty of time before your journey home. Of course, you can also choose to extend your stay by another night if you wish.
You’ll land at your chosen airport after an adventurous tour.
