Nairobi is East Africa’s most important commercial city. It is rich in both culture and nature, embracing the local and the ultra-modern. Your tour begins with experiences inside and outside the metropolis, where you’ll be introduced to both nature, culture, local life, and modernity.
From the city, the journey takes you to Amboseli National Park, which may be one of Kenya’s smallest national parks, but it’s high on our list of favourite parks in Kenya.
At first glance, Amboseli often appears dry and dusty. However, amidst the dryness lie swampy areas fed year-round by water from one particularly large mountain – Mount Kilimanjaro. This great diversity of landscapes attracts abundant wildlife, which are often easy to spot due to the sparse vegetation.
After delightful days filled with experiences and safari, enjoy a relaxing train journey towards the beautiful Kenyan coast, where you’ll stay at a lovely resort. Savour the sun, sea, and exotic holiday atmosphere before your journey home.

Today marks the departure from your chosen airport, heading to Kenya in East Africa with connecting flight(s) along the way.
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be greeted at the airport by our local partner. You’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you’ll stay for two nights.
Depending on your arrival time, you can choose to join an optional tour or simply relax and perhaps take a dip in the hotel pool.
One of Nairobi’s standout attractions is a visit to Nairobi National Park. Situated just a few minutes’ drive from the city centre, it is the only one of its kind in the world. Nowhere else can you go on a safari with skyscraper views! A visit to the park almost always guarantees spotting rhinos. You may also be fortunate enough to see your first lions of the trip. Giraffes, zebras, and antelopes also thrive here.
Before you venture that far, you’ll be taken on a tour of one of the country’s famous coffee farms.
Nairobi is located almost 1,800 metres above sea level, which impacts the coffee grown here. Kenyan coffee is more acidic than, for instance, Brazilian coffee, often with fruity and floral notes. The method of processing Kenyan coffee beans differs from what you’d find in South America, and the bean types themselves are also different. You’ll learn all this in the morning as a guide shows you around a large coffee plantation just outside Nairobi. Naturally, you’ll get to taste the coffee, as the roasting process makes for notable differences. It’s a delightful way to start the day after a flight, and it’s quite remarkable to find such rural settings with fresh air, green coffee fields, and fruit trees so close to a big city.
You’ll enjoy lunch at a hip street-food market in the city centre. The market is modern and full of charm, offering a wide selection of food stalls with an international flair yet retaining its local essence. Various local artists manage small cosy shops selling unique crafts and clothing, providing the perfect opportunity to pick up a one-of-a-kind souvenir and support an up-and-coming creative talent.
The day concludes with your first actual safari, setting the mood for tomorrow. Nairobi National Park, at just 117 km², is one of Kenya’s smallest national parks. Despite its size, it is one of the country’s most renowned, and understandably so. The wildlife here is abundant. The only classic safari animal you won’t spot here is elephants, as the park is too small to accommodate them. But don’t worry, you’ll get the chance to see them later in your journey!
After breakfast, you’ll check out from the hotel and bid farewell to Nairobi. You’ll journey to Amboseli National Park, which is a 4-6 hour drive from Nairobi.
Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch at your lodge, and in the afternoon, your first safari outing in the national park awaits.
Amboseli is another of Kenya’s smaller national parks, yet it ranks high among our favourite parks. The landscape is fantastic and very varied, as is the wildlife. And it doesn’t hurt that you often have a spectacular view of Kilimanjaro from the national park!
The day is dedicated to safari in Amboseli, and to make the most of it, you’ll have a packed lunch with you in the vehicle.
What the day will bring is impossible to predict, but that’s one of the joys of going on safari. However, Amboseli is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants, and many here have magnificent tusks.
The sparse vegetation in Amboseli makes it easier to spot the wildlife, and in addition to elephants, you’ll see plenty of zebras, antelopes, giraffes – and probably lions too.
If you’re a bird enthusiast, you won’t be disappointed in Amboseli, as parts of the park are wetlands almost all year round, attracting a wide variety of bird species.
It’s an early departure from the lodge today as you head to the train station at Emali. You’ll board the train towards Mombasa, arriving after a good 5-hour train ride.
The journey takes you through Kenya’s largest national park, Tsavo, and it’s not uncommon to spot giraffes and elephants from the train windows.
The train is well-equipped with comfortable seats, air conditioning, the option to purchase snacks, and toilet facilities, making the train journey both comfortable and relaxing.
Upon arrival in Mombasa, you’ll be greeted by our local partner who will drive you to your hotel, where you’ll stay for four nights.
Your days at the beach are entirely at your leisure. Perhaps you’d like to simply enjoy the resort, pool, water, and sun, but if you find yourself wishing for more excitement, the area offers several interesting excursions.
A half-day tour of Mombasa with a visit to Fort Jesus is highly recommended – especially if you’re interested in history. If marine life piques your curiosity more, we highly recommend a snorkelling trip.
Below, you can see a couple of optional tours available for purchase.
If you wish, it’s also possible to extend your beach stay – just have a chat with your travel specialist.
You’ll be picked up from the hotel and driven to the airport, where your homeward journey begins.
You’ll land at your chosen airport after an adventurous tour.
