Mai Chau Ecolodge sits on a verdant hillside in the heart of the Mai Chau valley, surrounded by rice fields with the mountains as a peaceful backdrop. Built in a traditional style inspired by local Thai stilt houses, the lodge blends seamlessly into the landscape. Here, you’re set slightly back from the town, with peace and quiet all around, yet still within easy reach of local life.
Mai Chau Ecolodge has been created as an ecotourism project with deep respect for nature and the local community. Much of the grounds have been preserved as open green spaces, and the lodge has been constructed from natural, renewable materials such as bamboo, wood, and stone, all sourced locally and used with sensitivity to the surroundings. The team actively champions environmental responsibility, local employment, and responsible tourism, and most of the staff come from the surrounding villages and belong to the local Thai ethnic community. Your stay therefore helps support the community and contributes to preserving the area’s nature, culture, and way of life. Read more about the hotel’s sustainability policy here.
The lodge has 43 rooms, and as standard, you’ll stay in a Superior room that is spacious and styled in warm natural materials such as bamboo and wood, with handcrafted details. The bed sits at the centre of the room, surrounded by soft textiles and muted colours that create a calm atmosphere. The room has air conditioning, a minibar, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a safety box. The bathroom features a freestanding washbasin, ample counter space, and a walk-in shower. From the covered terrace, you can look out over green hills and lush vegetation. The terrace is open, with limited screening, and furnished with chairs where you can sit back and enjoy the peace and fresh air.
The pool area sits in an open spot with views over the surrounding mountains and rice paddies, and it becomes a natural hub during the day. Here you can take a dip, relax on a sun lounger, or simply enjoy the views at a leisurely pace. You can also treat yourself in the spa area or borrow a bicycle to explore the local area and its small villages at your own pace.
The restaurant serves Vietnamese dishes made with local produce, and in the evening, many guests gather here not only to savour the food but also the view as the sun sets over the valley. On some evenings, the lodge hosts traditional music and dance performances, offering an atmospheric insight into the culture of the local Thai ethnic group.
