Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Flights from selected airport

Today you will depart from your selected airport and fly to Kenya, with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 2: Arrival Nairobi

Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport by our local partner, who will drive you to your hotel.

If you arrive early, you can choose to start your adventure straight away by booking one of our optional tours.

Nairobi is East Africa’s central commercial hub, but the city also offers a fascinating combination of city life and nature – including the Nairobi National Park. The city buzzes with life and boasts a captivating mix of cultures that gives it its own unique energy.

If you’d prefer a relaxing start, you can unwind at the hotel and enjoy the surroundings – perhaps with a dip in the pool.

Day 3: Nairobi – Masai Mara

After breakfast, you’ll leave the hotel and head towards the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve.

Just outside Nairobi, the scenery opens up into the lush, rolling hills surrounding the Great Rift Valley. Weather permitting, you’ll stop at a viewpoint offering a breathtaking panorama across the vast valley stretching all the way from the Middle East to Mozambique. The Rift Valley was created by powerful geological forces, and scientists believe that, in time, it may split the African continent in two.

The drive will then continue through a vibrant landscape of fields and small villages, where daily life unfolds along the roadside. Stalls sell everything from vegetables to bicycles, and on market days, there’s an extra buzz of people and activity. You’ll often see the Maasai herding cattle and goats on their way to market.

Along the way, take time simply to enjoy the journey – lean back, put on some music or an audiobook, and let the sights of Kenya glide by outside your window.

You’ll usually make a short stop in Narok, the unofficial capital of the Maasai, before continuing your tour towards the savannah.

Early in the afternoon, you’ll arrive in the Masai Mara, where lunch will be waiting for you. Later in the day, it’s time for your first game drive and your first encounter with the incredible wildlife.

Back at the camp, you can look forward to a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Safari in the Masai Mara

The entire day will be dedicated to exploring one of Africa’s most iconic natural areas – the Masai Mara.

Established in 1961, the reserve forms part of the impressive Serengeti ecosystem and is home to one of the richest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in the world. Here, you may see herds of elephants, graceful giraffes moving across the savannah, and vast groups of zebras and wildebeests on their eternal migration in search of fresh grazing. With a bit of luck, you might also spot lions, a cheetah on the hunt, or a leopard resting in the shade of a tree.

A safari in the Masai Mara, however, is about far more than just spotting animals. It’s about feeling the rhythm of nature itself. Nothing is planned in advance, and each day unfolds differently. The animals move freely, and your guide reads their tracks and behaviour – often with the help of other guides who share sightings along the way. This creates a unique sense of excitement, where there’s always something new to look forward to.

The landscape itself is a major part of the experience. The Mara River winds its way through the area, attracting animals throughout the day, while the open plains, gently rolling hills, and scattered acacia trees stretch endlessly towards the horizon. As the day unfolds, both the light and the atmosphere shift – from the cool, dew-soaked morning to the warm afternoon, when dust lingers in the air.

At midday, you’ll pause to enjoy a picnic lunch in the open air. Here, there’s time to let your impressions sink in as you’re surrounded by the sounds and vastness of the savannah before the day’s adventures continue.

No two days are the same in the Masai Mara. Every game drive offers new impressions, and each encounter with the wildlife feels special. It’s the combination of wild animals, magnificent landscapes, and the element of unpredictability that makes this experience truly unique.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha

After days spent on the vast plains of the savannah, the tour will continue into a new and quite different landscape. Along the way, the scenery transforms, and the golden hues gradually give way to the greener, more luxuriant vegetation of the Great Rift Valley.

Here you’ll find Lake Naivasha – a freshwater lake located in the higher part of the valley at an altitude of around 1,890 metres. The lake is surrounded by acacia trees and attracts abundant birdlife as well as hippos, which are often spotted along the shores.

The atmosphere here is quite different from the savannah. The pace slows down, and the focus shifts from classic safari to peaceful encounters with nature by the water’s edge.

You’ll arrive in the early afternoon, and the rest of the day is at your leisure. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax at the lodge and take in the tranquil surroundings of the lake.

Day 6: Activities at Lake Naivasha and departure for Amboseli

The morning is free to spend as you wish, with the option to purchase an excursion if you’d like a little extra adventure. Alternatively, enjoy a slow start to the day and soak up the restful atmosphere of the lodge.

Later in the morning, the journey will continue towards Amboseli National Park. On the way, you’ll stop in Nairobi for a pleasant lunch break before travelling further south.

You’ll reach the camp in Amboseli late in the afternoon. If the weather is clear, you can look forward to a magical sunset with Africa’s majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as a dramatic backdrop.

Day 7: Safari in Amboseli

Look forward to a full day on safari in Amboseli National Park – one of Kenya’s smaller parks in size, but certainly not in experiences.

Few sights are as iconic as elephants roaming the open savannah with Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the background – a landscape that makes Amboseli truly unique.

The park is especially known for its large elephants with impressive tusks, and its open, sparse vegetation makes spotting wildlife relatively easy. Alongside elephants, you’ll also encounter an incredible variety of birdlife and ever-changing scenery.

With a packed lunch in tow, you can spend the entire day exploring the park. Lunch is often enjoyed from a viewpoint overlooking both lush wetlands and dry plains – a striking contrast that defines Amboseli.

Later in the day, you’ll return to your camp, where dinner awaits.

Day 8: Amboseli – Mombasa by train

After breakfast, it’s time to swap the thrill of safari for the pure relaxation of Kenya’s white-sand beaches. From Amboseli, you’ll drive to the train station and board the train to Mombasa – the perfect start to a restful beach holiday.

The train journey itself is an experience to remember. The train is comfortable, and as you travel through Kenya’s largest National Park, Tsavo, you may well be lucky enough to spot elephants and giraffes from the window.

Upon arrival in Mombasa, you’ll be met at the station and driven to your hotel in the seaside town of Diani Beach, just south of Mombasa.

Days 9-11: Relaxation and adventure on Kenya’s coast

Spend your days entirely at your own pace – whether you wish to unwind by the water or head out into the Indian Ocean to snorkel among colourful fish or sail in a traditional dhow boat.

If you’re tempted to explore further, venture inland where lush forests form the backdrop for encounters with nature and local traditions that are still very much alive today.

The contrast is striking in Mombasa, a city brimming with history, colour, and life. In the old town, narrow streets wind between buildings with carved wooden doors and architecture inspired by Arab and Swahili styles – a testament to centuries of trade and cultural exchange. At the historic Fort Jesus, you quite literally step back in time, while today the city’s markets and harbour areas buzz with activity, scents, and local impressions.

Day 12: Departure day

You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport, where your journey home will begin.

Day 13: Arrival back home

You’ll arrive at your selected airport after a wonderful tour.
