Serengeti & Masai Mara: Visit two of the world’s best safari destinations on one tour. You travel from Kenya to Tanzania – and back, from where you can choose to extend your tour with a beach holiday.
On this tour, you will experience Kenya’s greatest highlights: Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, and Masai Mara. The journey rounds off with a relaxing beach holiday on the exotic island of Zanzibar.
This tour combines Kenya’s iconic safari adventure with the tropical island atmosphere of Zanzibar.
Discover the wildlife of Masai Mara National Reserve, the ever-changing landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, and the elephants of Amboseli National Park with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
From Nairobi, you will fly on to Zanzibar, where powder-white beaches, turquoise waters, and a laid-back atmosphere offer the perfect contrast to your safari experience.
Here, you can unwind on the soft white sands, explore the historic Stone Town, sample the island’s spices and exotic fruits, set sail on a traditional dhow, or go exploring in Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park.
Today your journey will begin by flying from your selected airport to Kenya, with connecting flight(s) along the way.
Upon arrival in Kenya, our local partner will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel, where you will spend one night.
If you arrive early in the morning, you can choose to join one of our optional tours listed below and start exploring right away. Nairobi is East Africa’s bustling commercial hub; yet it offers a fascinating blend of urban energy and nature – including the Nairobi National Park. The city is alive with activity and its vibrant mix of cultures gives it a unique atmosphere.
Of course, you might simply want to relax at the hotel, which naturally has a swimming pool.
Today the real adventure begins!
After breakfast, your guide for the coming days will pick you up from your hotel, and you’ll set off towards the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve.
Just outside Nairobi, the landscape opens up into the lush, rolling hills surrounding the Great Rift Valley. Weather permitting, you’ll stop at a viewpoint offering a breathtaking panorama of the vast valley that stretches all the way from the Middle East to Mozambique. Formed by powerful geological forces, scientists believe the Rift Valley may one day divide the African continent in two.
The journey will then continue through a vibrant landscape of fields and small villages, where daily life unfolds along the roadside. Locals sell everything from vegetables to bicycles, and on market days, the liveliness and activity reach their peak. You’ll often see Maasai herders on their way to market with cattle and goats.
Along the way, there’s time to simply relax and enjoy the journey – lean back, put on some music or an audiobook, and let the impressions of Kenya unfold outside your window.
A brief stop is usually made in Narok, the unofficial capital of the Maasai people, before the tour continues towards the savannah.
In the early afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Masai Mara, where lunch will be waiting. Later in the day, you’ll head out on your first game drive and experience your first encounter with the region’s incredible wildlife.
Back at the camp, you can look forward to a delicious dinner.
Enjoy a full day of safari in one of Africa’s most iconic natural areas, the Masai Mara.
Established in 1961, the reserve forms part of the magnificent Serengeti ecosystem and is home to one of the richest collections of wildlife on Earth. Here, you might see herds of elephants, graceful giraffes wandering calmly across the plains, and vast groups of zebras and wildebeests on their endless migration in search of fresh grass. With a bit of luck, you may also spot lions, a cheetah on the hunt, or a leopard resting in the shade of a tree.
A safari in the Masai Mara is about more than simply spotting animals. It’s an experience that lets you feel the rhythm of nature. Nothing is planned in advance, and each day unfolds in its own way. The animals move freely, and your guide follows their tracks and behaviour – often with help from other guides who share their sightings along the way. It creates a special kind of excitement, where there’s always something to look forward to.
The landscape itself is a huge part of the experience. The Mara River winds its way through the area, attracting wildlife throughout the day, while the open plains, gently rolling hills, and scattered acacia trees stretch out towards an almost endless horizon. As the day progresses, both the light and the atmosphere shift – from the cool, dewy mornings to the warm afternoons, when dust lingers in the air.
At midday, you’ll pause to enjoy a picnic lunch in the open air. It’s the perfect moment to let the impressions sink in, surrounded by the sounds and vastness of the savannah, before the day’s adventures continue.
No two days are ever the same in the Masai Mara. Every game drive brings new impressions, and each encounter with the animals feels special. It’s the combination of the wild, untouched nature, the magnificent landscapes, and the unpredictable that makes the experience truly unique.
After days spent on the vast plains of the savannah, the tour will continue into new and strikingly different scenery. Along the way, the landscape gradually shifts, as the golden tones give way to the lush, green vegetation of the Great Rift Valley.
Here you’ll find Lake Naivasha – a freshwater lake situated in the higher reaches of the valley at around 1,890 metres above sea level. Framed by acacia trees, the lake attracts a wealth of birdlife as well as hippos, which can often be spotted along its shores.
The atmosphere here is completely different from that of the savannah. The pace slows down, and the focus shifts from the classic safari adventure to tranquil encounters with nature by the water’s edge.
You’ll arrive in the early afternoon, and the rest of the day is at your leisure. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the lodge by the lake.
The morning is at your leisure. You might like to ease into the day and soak up the calm atmosphere at the lodge. Alternatively, you can book an optional excursion if you’d like to experience something extra.
Later in the morning, the tour will continue towards Amboseli National Park. En route, there’s a stop in Nairobi for a pleasant lunch break before the journey carries on southwards.
You’ll arrive at the camp in Amboseli late in the afternoon. If the weather is clear, you can look forward to a captivating sunset with Africa’s majestic mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, as a dramatic backdrop.
Look forward to a full day of safari in Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s smaller parks in size – but by no means in small in its experiences.
One of Africa’s most iconic sights is that of elephants roaming the open savannah with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background – it’s this very landscape that makes Amboseli so unique.
The park is particularly famous for its large elephants with impressive tusks, and the open, sparse vegetation makes it relatively easy to spot wildlife. In addition to elephants, the area also offers a rich birdlife and great variations in scenery.
Bringing a packed lunch allows you to spend the entire day in the park. Lunch is often enjoyed from a viewpoint overlooking both the lush wetlands and the dry plains – a contrast that defines Amboseli.
Late in the day, you’ll return to the camp, where dinner awaits.
After breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to Amboseli and Kilimanjaro and travel back to Nairobi. From here, you’ll fly to a relaxing beach holiday on Tanzania’s exotic island, Zanzibar.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you’ll be met by our local partner, who will drive you to your hotel.
Your days on Zanzibar are free to spend as you please.
Zanzibar lies in the Indian Ocean and consists of the main islands Unguja (informally known as Zanzibar) and Pemba, as well as countless smaller islets.
The main island of Zanzibar is blessed with both natural beauty and rich culture. Here, you’ll find powder-white beaches, turquoise waters, and stunning coral reefs, and the island enjoys a warm, sunny climate all year round.
Its dramatic history is filled with Arab sultans, Portuguese seafarers, the slave trade, and European explorers — all of whom have left their mark on the island. This influence is evident in the capital, Stone Town, one of Africa’s most fascinating cities, brimming with beautiful Arabic architecture.
Enjoy your days by the beach or head out on excursions around the island.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport, where your journey home begins, with connecting flight(s) along the way.
You’ll arrive at your selected airport after a wonderful tour.
